Division of Youth Services, Central Office, Cole County Annual Salary Range $ 41,184.00 – $ 42,780.00 Posted May 9, 2018
This is professional work in the planning and coordination or supervision of a special educational services program in the Central Office of the Missouri Division of Youth Services located in Cole County. The following tasks are the responsibility of the Special Education Supervisor.
JOB DUTIES: • Oversee Special Education Process for the Division of Youth Services(DYS) • Coordinate Section 504 plans for DYS students • Act as a liaison with the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education(DESE) Special Education department and staff • Provides guidance in interpreting Woodcock-Johnson IV assessment and screening for DYS students and organize training for staff • Have an understanding and be current with special education compliance regulations and procedures as it relates to the IDEA 204 Federal Regulations, Missouri State Special Education Compliance Plan and Missouri School Improvement Standards and Indicators Manual for Special Education • Oversee DYS Missouri School Improvement Reviews in Special education conducted every 3 years. • Provide technical assistance to education staff in screening and assessment for initial referrals for students in special education or Section 504 • Train DYS staff in special education and Section 504 process • Monitor student special education records for best practices in process and instruction • Conduct regular on-site reviews of special education programs in DYS • Have or be able to obtain Special Education certification with DESE • Attend and participate in regular DYS educational leadership meeting and trainings • Participate in professional organizations and groups relating to special education
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT Ability to obtain (at the time of employment or no later than end of probationary period) an appropriate valid Life, Professional Classification II (PCII), Career Continuous Professional Certificate (CCPC), Initial Professional Certificate (IPC), Continuous Professional Classification (CPC), Principal's Certificate, and/or Special Education Administrator's Certificate issued by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
QUALIFICATIONS: Twenty-seven or more months of professional education or librarian experience with the Missouri Uniform Classification and Pay System.
OR A Master's degree from an accredited college or university in Education, Library Science, Guidance and Counseling, or in a teaching area or a closely related area; and Three or more years of professional education or librarian experience.
(Post-Master's earned graduate credit hours from an accredited college or university in the specified areas may substitute on a year-for-year basis for a maximum of two years of the required experience at a rate of 24 earned credit hours for one year.) (Possession of a Principal's Certificate or Special Education Administrator's Certificate may substitute for the required Master's degree.)
