CALL FOR POSTER PRESENTATION ABSTRACTS
The conference planning committee invites you to develop and submit an abstract to be considered for poster presentation at the WLN Fall Conference, October 5, 2019 at Marian University in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.
All accepted abstracts will be published within the conference brochure in addtion to the slide of the poster.
The focus of the fall conference is preparing professional nurses of the future with an emphasis on excellence in nursing education through promoting civility in the academic setting both in the worksite and in the academic classroom. Additionally, afternoon workshops highlight student success strategies for curriculum and course planning emphasizing active student support.
Posters will be considered for a variety of topics relating to the goals identified in the strategic plan of the WLN: • Promote excellence in nursing education through teaching/learning strategies • Align with our core values of caring, integrity, diversity, and excellence • Champion interests applicable to nurse educators in political, academic, and professional arenas • Promote evidence-based nursing education and the scholarship of nursing
Posters may be presented using one of the following general categories: • Nursing Research • Case Presentation • Informational
NURSING RESEARCH
Research abstracts describe original research, evidence based practice projects, or quality improvement projects. ​
ABSTRACT GENERAL FORMAT • Not to exceed 350 words • 12-point font size • Title and author included, indicate lead author with contact email for the poster.
BODY OF ABSTRACT (use these headings) • Background (brief description of what is known about research question or what prompted you to do EBP or QI project) • Aims (purpose of study or purpose of the EBP or QI project) • Methods (design/study protocol or describe steps to EBP or QI project) • Results (synopsis of data) • Conclusions (summary of findings) • Clinical or Nursing Educational Implications (including relevance to nursing educational practice)

CASE PRESENTATION
Posters of case presentations are an analysis of a particular case used as a basis for drawing conclusions in similar situations. Classroom, pedagogical, clinical or teaching/learning strategies are included in this category.
ABSTRACT GENERAL FORMAT • Not to exceed 350 words • 12-point font size • Title - and author included, indicate lead author with contact email for the poster.
BODY OF ABSTRACT (use these headings) • Case Presentation or Educational Strategy • Setting -- Classroom, clinical, community or other? • Background information -- what brought you to develop this strategy Evaluation (studies/assessment) • Interventions -- include a brief summary of what was carried out • Discussion/Recommendations (including relevance to nursing educational practice)
INFORMATIONAL
Informational posters are designed for the benefit of inparting knowledge concerning a topic of interest.
ABSTRACT GENERAL FORMAT • Not to exceed 350 words • 12-point font size​ • Title & author included, indicate lead author with contact email for the poster.
BODY OF ABSTRACT (use these headings) • Background • Purpose • Description of topic (may include a literature review) • Implications (including relevance to nursing educational practice)

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
1. One of the authors must be a member of WLN at the time of submission. 2. Select a general category for the poster topic and follow the associated guidelines for the category. 3. Abstracts must be submitted online. 4. All submissions must be received by September 15, 2019. 5. FAQs
Who can submit a poster? You (or you and a team). One of the authors must be a member of WLN at the time of submission of the abstract. (membership is easy and affordable at our pre-conference WLN membership rate accessed through the WLN website).
Is there a special format that I must use to write my abstract? Yes. See the guidelines.
What happens if my poster is accepted for a poster presentation? Poster specifications and criteria for acceptance is included within the “Handouts” tab located on the Fall Conference Registration section on the WLN website. Registration for the fall conference is not required at the time of poster presentation submission. Author (s) of accepted posters will display a poster at the fall conference in October 2019. Submitting an abstract signifies your commitment to present a poster should it be accepted.
What is the submission deadline? Abstracts must be received by September 15 , 2019.
